Family Matters Lunch and Talk
With Richard Foster - The challenges of group portraits

Friday 4 November

Richard Foster is a distinguished member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, with an impressive list of sitters to his credit including British and foreign royalty. He is particularly admired for his flair when tackling the often tricky problems associated with group portraits - how to give all the participants equal prominence and achieve a lively finished picture?

Based in London, Richard maintains a home in Norfolk and many links here. In between portrait commissions he travels widely making evocative watercolours of exotic locations. We are tremendously lucky that Richard has found time in his busy schedule to talk to EAAF members about his work whilst the Family Matters exhibition is showing at Norwich Castle.

Family Matters Tea and Talk
Who are they? Highlights of the Family Matters exhibition

Wednesday 30 November

Art Historian Charlotte Crawley has a long standing passion for portraits. Over the centuries portraiture, together with landscape, has been one of the staples of British art, and the Family Matters exhibition will delight visitors with the huge range of portraits on show. Charlotte will look at pictures in the exhibition over two sessions either side of tea and Christmas cake, with our traditional fortifying glass of madeira providing some seasonal good cheer.
