Cley 16: In Norfolk Now is curated by Hugh Pilkington, artist and architect. As the title suggests, he is keen to find out who are the artists working in Norfolk today, how large is their audience and who are the patrons that might support their work. He asks whether successors to Cotman and Crome and the Norwich School can be identified. His ‘Call to Artists’ attracted 195 proposals for new works, of which he has selected 75 who are working across a broad range of mediums: painting, photography, drawing, stitching, installation, sculpture, glass, paper, mixed media, bronze…

The exhibition will be based in and around the spectacular St Margaret of Antioch church and also through the village; at Cley Windmill, the Crabpot Bookshop, Norfolk Wildlife Trust Visitor Centre and on the shingle beach.

As usual the exhibition is supported by a Workshop Programme for Adults, Families, Carers and Clients and Over-60s and this year Hugh Pilkington is leading three free evening ‘conversations’ plus there will be a programme of evening concerts and many free events, the Children’s quiz and for the first time Pop-up Coffee will be available each Wednesday morning.
