Please join us for this chance to see two wonderful exhibitions with an opportunity to hear expert talks about the works on show! This event starts at the Fermoy Gallery with an exhibition of the work of painter Alfred Cohen, followed by a visit to Groundwork gallery, and an exhibition of work by Roger Ackling and Richard Long. This is a rare chance to see the Cohen exhibition - it is on show for the two weeks of the Kings Lynn Festival only and the Groundwork space will have opened earlier in the week.

Alfred Cohen (1920 - 2001), a remarkable colourist and draughtsman, settled in Norfolk in the last quarter of the 20th century. This exhibition, presented by the Sainsbury Centre, explores the theme of ‘light and water’, with Cohen’s paintings of the Thames, the Channel coasts and Norfolk. Cohen’s stepson and biographer, Prof Max Saunders, has most generously offered to join us in the gallery to talk about the paintings on show.

Dr Veronica Sekules will welcome us to her space Groundwork, a new gallery for art and the environment, and will give an introduction to an exhibition of work by Roger Ackling and Richard Long. Sunlight and Gravity celebrates the great friendship between the two artists and includes work by Ackling that has not been seen before alongside a new work by Long made with mud from the River Ouse! Veronica will also be telling us about her plans for the future of the gallery.

The day will close with some light refreshments on the terrace of Groundwork, across from the Custom House.

Tickets at £15, include exhibition tours and refreshments. This event is for EAAF Members. To book a place please contact the office 01603 493668 or email info@eastangliaartfund.org.uk
