Join us for this wonderful day in Colchester, which begins with an exhibition supported by EAAF at the Minories, continues on to Firstsite and ends with a studio visit with Daniel & Clara!
Anglian Abstract celebrates the legacy of modernism in East Anglia through selection of contemporary artists working in abstraction, with work from three key phases of the career of legendary abstract artist Margaret Mellis (1914 - 2009). Together, the works on show reflect the enduring impact of modernism and its evolution in contemporary art.
Anglian Abstract is curated by Emma Howe, Director of the Minories, who will be giving us an in-depth tour of her exhibition. After lunch at the Minories, we will walk across to Firstsite to see the new exhibition Sue Webster: Birth of an Icon, with a welcome and introduction from Sally Shaw, Director of Firstsite. From there, we continue next door for an exclusive visit to the new studio of artist Daniel & Clara, who have shown at Norwich Castle and have selected our forthcoming Open Art Show, In Proximity.
Tickets are £38 per person and include refreshments, lunch and tours. Your host for the day is Amanda Geitner.
