Leiko Ikemura: Usagi in Wonderland

Arrangements have just been finalised for the visit of Japanese-Swiss artist, Leiko Ikemura, to her first UK exhibition. We are thrilled to offer EAAF members the opportunity to meet this internationally renowned artist and hear her talk about the work in her marvellous exhibition - Usagi in Wonderland.

The exhibition showcases a retrospective collection of 50 works spanning three decades of Ikemura’s career, from early paintings, drawings and sculptures through to her most recent never-seen-before cast glass figures. Exploring themes of nature and the connectivity of all forms of life, there is both fragility and innocence in Ikemura’s empathetic portrayal of global issues, such as climate and evolutionary change.

The event begins at 3pm at the Sainsbury Centre, on the Mezzanine Gallery. We will finish with refreshments in the Modern Life Café at 4pm. Tickets are £16 per person and include entrance to Usagi in Wonderland. Places are limited to allow for those who wish to socially distance.

You may wish to arrive early to see the other exhibitions on show at the Centre: Grayson Perry: The Pre-Therapy Years and Rhythm and Geometry: Constructivist art in Britain since 1951 (which is free to enter). Tickets can be obtained separately at the Gallery Reception desk.

Please note: we regret that, due to the nature of the Grade II Listed building and fire safety regulations, there is currently no wheelchair access to the Mezzanine Gallery.
