Dr Tim Pestell, Senior Curator of Archaeology at Norwich Castle, was central to the refurbishment of the Norwich Castle Keep, a highlight of which is the spectacular Gallery of Medieval Life, formed in partnership with the British Museum.
Members of EAAF gave £50,000 towards the new gallery and this is an exceptional opportunity to hear about the favourite works of the scholar and curator at the heart of the project. Tim will talk about the ambition for the gallery and focus on some of its greatest treasures, including the Alabaster Dormition of the Virgin, the Bromholm Prayer Roll and the marvellous mid-14th century Ivory Panel, acquired in 2025 with the support of the Art Fund.
We will start in the Town Close Auditorium for Tim's talk and then break for tea and cake in the Rotunda. There will be time afterwards to go to the Castle Keep to admire the objects Tim has highlighted. We will also have a chance to go up to the battlements as night falls across the City!
Tickets are £15 per person and include talk, tea and cake.
