UNDISCLOSED is an exhibition seeking to expose Modern Slavery (MS) - a 21st Century Crime. Curated by Caroline Evans and Nicola Hockley, seven well established contemporary artists (including one collaborative pair) are commissioned to produce new work: Melissa Pierce Murray, Jo Pearl, Jhonatan Pulido, James Quinn and Judith Stewart, Vanessa Rolf, Ismini Samanidou. Their work challenges and engages audiences in order to raise awareness and inspire deeper thinking, revealing the interconnectedness of this crime and the way in which we are all implicated, in some form or another.

The exhibition is being delivered by Discourse CIC, of which Nicola Hockley and Caroline Evans are directors.

'We firmly believe in the potential of art to generate dialogue and inspire change. Art has the capacity to reach audiences in a profound and intimate way, encouraging sensory responses, increasing a capacity for empathy, compassion and participation in the world. For this reason, we have commissioned artists from different subject specialisms; installation, sculpture, film/video, fine art painting/drawing, textile and photography to take part in Undisclosed.

According to research and reports, from the police and NGOs, raising awareness is the UK’s number one fight against Modern Slavery. We decided to curate Undisclosed because we believe that an exhibition is an effective way to elevate the debate around this subject. It is a platform for public discourse, a way to address the unseen, yet commonplace, social issues which surround us in the East of England.

We are all guilty of passive acceptance and ignorance, but Modern Slavery is a contemporary issue that can no longer be ignored. We would therefore urge you to endorse this exhibition and pledge your support.'
