Join us for an exclusive tour of two new exhibitions at Houghton Hall - Sir Antony Gormley's Time Horizon and work in the Hall by Dame Magdalene Odundo.
Time Horizon, one of Gormley’s most spectacular large-scale installations, will be shown across the grounds at Houghton Hall, the first time the work will be staged in the UK. Featuring 100 life-size sculptures distributed across 300 acres of the park, the furthest is approximately 1.5 miles from the Hall, on the West Avenue. The cast-iron sculptures, each weighing 620kg and standing at an average of 191cm, are installed at the same datum level to create a single horizontal plane across the landscape.
Magdalene Odundo is showing glass and ceramic work in the Stone Hall and State Rooms, with a marvellous installation in the Exhibition Gallery.
We are delighted to have been granted private access to the Hall allowing us Odundo's exhibition to ourselves, prior to the Hall opening to the public.
Our visit will begin at 10am with tea and coffee in the Old Kitchen. Then priority access to the exhibition gallery and Hall to see Odundo's work. From 12 noon we will begin our tour of Time Horizon, spread far and wide across the grounds, beckoning us on to places we may not have been to before. Following the event, you are welcome to linger and enjoy the grounds and gardens!
Tickets are £45 per person and include tea and coffee and tour. Many of the Time Horizon figures can be seen from the Hall but if you are happy to walk, we will be wandering further to see as many as possible. The day is hosted by Amanda Geitner.
