Join us for a screening of John Craxton: A Life of Gifts, written and directed by the acclaimed musician and filmmaker, Tony Britten.
Based on Ian Collins’ (writer, curator and EAAF Executive Committee Member) book of the same name, this fascinating and deeply personal documentary film delves into the life of John Craxton and his artistic family. Ian Collin's exhibition John Craxton: A Modern Odyssey is currently on show at Pallant House Gallery, Chichester, until 21 April 2024.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Tony Britten.
John Craxton (1922 – 2009) was one of the leading British NeoRomantic artists, preferring to be known as a 'kind of Arcadian'. His paintings mirror his personal journey – essentially a sepia hue until he left London for Greece where his life, loves and art became suffused in glorious, animated and sun-drenched colour. Tony Britten´s film follows Craxton´s journey, reflecting this unique character and creator.
