Somewhere Unexpected: Norwich Castle Open Art Show

Call for Entries has Closed

As 2021 begins, we find ourselves in a new relationship with the landscape that surrounds us. Somewhere Unexpected invites artists to submit work that acknowledges the significance of our immediate environments in the shifting context of a global pandemic. The call is open to artists working in East Anglia and welcomes a wide variety of approaches, including new media and performance.

Somewhere Unexpected will be shown in the Timothy Gurney Gallery at Norwich Castle as part of the bicentenary celebrations marking the death of John Crome, a founder of the Norwich School of Artists. The selectors for the show are Amanda Geitner, Rosy Gray, Henry Jackson Newcomb and Danny Keen.

Entries cost £10 per work (max 2 works)

Please note, dates for the close of call and exhibition opening have been changed in response to recent Government Guidance on the lifting of Covid 19 restrictions

Artists will be informed of the final selection by the end of March 2021 and works will be on display in Norwich Castle 17 May – 12 September 2021.
